Lawn Care Maintenance

Healthy, good looking lawns require a little help to maintain that thick appearance. Turfgrass uses up lots of nutrients from the soil during its growing cycle. These nutrients include basic elements such as nitrogen, potash and phosphorus. The grass roots also absorb lots of micro-nutrients or trace elements from the soil as well. Many of these elements are found naturally in the soil, others come from decaying organic matter. Sometimes the soil doesn't have enough of these elements on hand to supply all of the turfgrass needs. This means supplement elements need to be added. This is what fertilization does: provides the necessary elements for plants to turn sunlight into food, that enables the plant to stay healthy.

We use a granular fertilizer, that is time-released so that the basic elements are released over a longer period of time. This cuts down on sudden growth spurts and provides a more natural process similar to what Mother Nature does.

Pest Control

When weeds and other pests are present we will spot treat for them when necessary. For grassy type weeds like crabgrass, we will put down a special pre-emergent control in the early spring that prevents crabgrass from sprouting later as the weather and soil temperatures warm up.

Aeration and Over-Seeding

Aeration is a rather basic operation that pays off in big dividends for your soil and lawn. Lawn Aeration is the removal of a small plug of turfgrass, roots and soil, then deposits this plug on the surface. This does several good things for your lawn. The plug removal actually stimulates new root growth for your turfgrass. It also provides an ideal environment to plant new grass seed to help fill in a thinning lawn. When those plugs are deposited on the surface, they quickly break down and the soil spreads out. The microbes that were in the soil, are now on the surface and they almost immediately begin to attack the layer of thatch and over the next year, that harmful thatch layer is reduced.

Aeration and over-seeding should be a regular part of any healthy lawn care program. Regular aeration helps maintain a healthy soil, and a healthy turfgrass; you'll be amazed at the difference.

Lawn Renovation

Lawn renovation can be the answer for badly neglected or climate damaged lawns. Our lawn renovation program is completely customized to fit your needs. Sometimes just slit seeding and aeration is all that is required for a greatly improved lawn renovation. Other times, a more drastic course of action is required. We will discuss with you our recommendations on what would be the best course of action for your lawn. You then decide how you want to proceed.
